It’s now less than a month to go until the Great Big Green Week. It will be an exciting explosion of climate action all across the UK to show politicians that the public wants to see urgent and ambitious action taken to tackle climate change.
Eco Communities are co-ordinating activities within Cheshire West and speaking to lots of group in the background to pull together what everyone is doing. Cheshire West Libraries, University of Chester, Chester Museum, Transition Chester, Frodsham Climate Action, Friends of the Earth Chester & District, Climate Action Chester and District, Northwich Transition, Incredible Edible Handbridge, 10xGreener CH1, Plastic Free Cheshire, Northwich BID, Friends of Countess of Chester Park and Chester Zoo will all have activities taking place over the week.
We start the weekend of the 18th/19th September by attending Chester Zoo’s Wildlife Connections Festival – https://www.chesterzoo.org/events/wildlife-connections-festival-2/
On the 18th September, 10xGreener CH1, Blacon Action Team, Incredible Edible Handbridge and Climate Action Chester and District all have events. LINKS
Transition Chester have organised 3 Sustainable Walks over the week. LINKS
We then end the week with our Great Big Green Week Festival at Grosvenor Park in Chester on Saturday 25 September – 11am until 4pm. We have a range of stalls selling goods, refreshments, community organisation stalls, talks and entertainment, all to high Climate Change, Sustainability and reducing our Carbon Footprint on the planet.
We are being supported by Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) Cheshire West and Chester Council and other partners to hold our first Great Big Green Week Festival, which we hope will become an annual event.
The Festival is being supported financially by The Climate Coalition, Cheshire West Voluntary Action, Vivocare and Chester West and Chester Council. We are not charging attendees for stalls, but will provide businesses with details and they may wish to make a donation after the event we can use to support future years activities.
